Perspectives

Essays, talks, and commentary from the studio: our thinking in progress, written for anyone working through the questions of our time.

What we're reading, thinking about, and making

Edge of Taos Desert | An Escape to Reality, Mabel Dodge Luhan. Luhan's memoir of arriving in Taos, the world that would later draw Georgia O'Keeffe. We read it as a study in belonging: how longing for a place can harden into a claim on it, and how that claim looked from Taos Pueblo, where the land was never an escape but home.

Reading
